A ball is thrown off a cliff overlooking a lake. The cliff is 9.60 m above the lake. The ball has an initial speed of 2.85 m/s and is thrown at an angle of 20.0° below the horizontal.

(a) Calculate the time after the ball is thrown until it strikes the water.
(b) Calculate the ball’s speed just before striking the water.
(c) How far from the base of the cliff does the ball hit the lake?
(d) Sketch the velocity versus time graphs for the ball from the time it was launched until it hits the ground. You need to draw two graphs, one for the horizontal velocity and one for the vertical velocity. Numerical labels are not required.

You are standing on a cliff overlooking a lake and decide to throw a tennis ball to your friends in the water below. You throw the tennis ball with a velocity of 20.5 m/s at an angle of 39.5° above the horizontal. When the tennis ball leaves your hand it is 13.5 m above the water. How far does the tennis ball travel horizontally before it hits the water? In your calculations, neglect any effects of air resistance.

A ball is thrown horizontally of a cliff. If the initial speed of the ball is (15.0+A) m/s and the cliff is (25.0+B) m high, how far from the base of the cliff will the ball land in the water below? Calculate the answer in meters (m) and rounded to three significant figures. A=8 B=58 A water balloon is launched at a speed of (15.0+A) m/s and an angle of 36 degrees above the horizontal. A ball is launched from a cliff that is 20.0 m above the surface of a very deep lake. SEE FIGURE. The initial speed is |v_1| = 40.0 m/s. The ball follows the one-dimensional trajectory schematically shown. Assume the magnitude of gravitational acceleration is g = 9.80 m/s^2. Neglect air resistance. The ball hits the water surface and moves downward toward the bottom of the lake with an UPWARD acceleration whose magnitude is |a| = 3.00 m/^2. (Scales shown in...
