9. While a ball falls to the ground, it accelerates continuously and so increases its momentum. Why is not this a violation of the law of conservation of the linear moment?

It's the total momentum of a closed system that is conserved

Is we consider ball as the system, this system has an external acting on it which is gravity hence the momentum of the ball is not conserved

Looking at earth + ball as the system

pearth + pball​​ = constant

If the ball is dropped then

Mball*Vball = -Mearth*Vearth

Hence the momentum of ball + earth system is constant

Momentum of only ball as a system is not conserved.
