RELIGION HELP PLEASE!!!!???

The Klickitat chief explains in the video that he feels that “freedom of religion” does not apply to his people given the ways in which their sacred sites, burial grounds, language, and other customs have been attacked or destroyed. What do you think he means by this?

"Freedom of Religion" is basically an arrangement of government which allows a person to freely follow his religion. It also ensures that the government will not interfere in the person's religious beliefs or practices.

Klickitat are a native American tribe. They belong to Pacific Northwest. They are related to trade of Salmon and Berries. They are considered dominant in the areas nearby mount Hood, Oregon. In the year 2006, US Federal Highway Administration announced a project of highway expansion.

Their projected proposed path was destroying the sacred burial sites of Klickitat people. The tribal people requested and alerted the Government regarding this. Their request were not considered and government bulldozed their ancestral burial grounds in the year 2008.

Since then. the chiefs of this tribe, are handling this matter via legal methods. They are asking for remedies for the destruction of of their sacred ground. They have been promised through governmental official that they will be consulted before making any other future construction in their area.

These tribal people are raising fingers on government based on the "Freedom Of Religion". It ensures that government will not interfere in anyone's religious matter but on the other hand this provision is being destroyed through carrying out construction work in their sacred ground.

The sacred burial ground is a part of their religion. It has great importance for the tribal people. The chief is depressed and sad on the governmental action. He seems to be unhappy with governmental policies. In this dejection he makes above mentioned remarks and questions about the fair implication of "Freedom of Religion".
