A transformer has 490 turns on its primary. An AC source supplies 120 Vrms on the primary and the transformer delivers 9.0 V on its secondary. How many turns are on the secondary?

Consider again the transformer described in the problem above.   If 25 mA of current is going into the primary, what current is being drawn at the secondary?

From transformation ratio

Ns = Vs Np/Vp

Ns = 9 x 490/120 = 36

B)

Is = Ip Np/Ns

Is = 25 x 490/36 = 340 mA
