Step 4: Summarize the Article
The music industry in turmoil for a long period is finally getting news on the 0.3% rise in revenue, although it is very paltry. Frances Moores believes it is a good situation to be as it could improve at the earliest. He attributes this to the change in the music industry and the adaption towards the internet world. Since, the piracy couldn’t be controlled, music streaming services such as Apple Inc.’s iTunes was in a free fall. Yet, global music industry’s revenue is starting to recover which can be evident from Tuesday’s figure of $16.5 billion in 2012 when compared to $16.4 billion in 2011.Mark Mulligan UK based MIDiA consulting stresses that this do not mean that the misery is behind. He believes that there could be a couple of more years that could go worse. The physical music market have almost ceased to exists and people have switched to streaming services such as youtube, tv channels, internet radio etc. Also, piracy have made it much more difficult for the music industries. Mulligan believes that the revenue lost due to the abandonment of buying physical music items like CD, DVD shall never be recovered. He believes that these are a case of managed decline yet he is confident of a sustainable smaller market built around more engaged music fan.
