5 situations are listed below and 8 reduction chemicals are listed A-H below, match the letters to the numbered situations. There may be more than one letter used for each number and the lettered redox's may be used more than once.

1. Reduces Complex III.

2. Flavin protein reduced by succinate

3. Oxidizes FMNH2 and FADH2 by accepting electrons and carrying them to Complex III.

4. Catabolic process for the decomposition of 4- and 6-carbon compounds.

5. Flavin proteins capable of reducing ubiquinone.

A. Quinol

B. Citric Acid Cycle

C. FMN (part of Complex 1)

D. FAD

E. Cytochrome

F. Glyoxylate Cycle

Answer #1

1) Ubiquinol( reduced form) reduces Complex III & get converted into ubiquinone( oxidised form). Ubiquinol is for ubiquitous nature of quinol(A) & Ubiquinone is for ubiquitous nature of quinone(G)

2) succinate transfered electron to FAD(D)(flavin adenine dinucleotide) & reduced it to form FADH2 in citric acid cycle(B)

3) Ubiquinone(G) oxidizes FMNH2 & FADH2 by accepting electrons & carrying them to Complex III in its reduced form ubiquinol(A).

4) glyoxylate cycle is not a catabolic pathway wherase citric acid cycle(B) is an amphibolic pathway( catabolic as well as anabolic pathway). it includes the catabolic decompostion of citrate(5-C) to alphaketoglutarate through series of reactions and further succinate(4-C) into fumerate through further reactions.

5. Ubiquinone is reduced by FMN( Complex I)(C) & cytochrome b(E) also .
