Factors affecting the span of control are:
* Nature of work/job.
* Capabilities and expertise of superiors.
* Planning and communication system. Etc.
6) management by walking around; it is a method of maintaining the control and efficiency of the employees, by strict monitoring, direct communication and considering the feedbacks, opinions, views and performance of each frontline staff members.
The advantages of MBWA:
* Building strong relationships with superior and subordinates, if it is implemented effectively, without impacting the employees mentally in a negative way.
* Enhancing the level of efficiency and effectiveness, with continuous monitoring and guidance.
* Improving the communication system, and encouragement to the feedback mechanism.
The disadvantage of MBWA:
* Takes lot of time and effort to implement the method.
* Managers need to be present all the time to monitor and check the work status.
* Working on the feedback from each employee is difficult.
