Thermal decomposition

The thermal decomposition of 1.6608 grams of MgSO4 x H20 produces 1.4446 grams of a product in a well behaved reaction. There are two possibilites:
MgSO4 x H2O (s) -----> MgSO4 (s) + H20 (g)
MgSO4 x H2O (s) -----> MgO (s) + SO3 (g) + H20 (g)

I have to find the answer by filling out a chart. The only info provided is the mass of the MgSO4 x H20 which is 1.6608 grams.

First calculate the number of moles of MgSO4xH2O, then calculate the molecular weights of MgO and MgSO4. Divide the final mass by the molecular weight of each and whichever one has the same number of moles as the MgSO4xH2O is the reaction you had.

If you don't know how to calculate molecular weight you are totally screwed.
