Answer #1
a die will be rolled some number of times and you will win $1 if it shows an ace (1 dot) more then 20% of the time, which is better 60 or 600 rolls <pre><font face = "times new roman" size = 4 color = "indigo"><b> The probability of rolling an ace is {{{1/6}}} or {{{16&2/3}}}{{{"%"}}}. So the answer is 60 rolls. That's because with 600 rolls the number of aces will likely to be very close to 1/6 or {{{16&2/3}}}{{{"%"}}} whereas 60 rolls would likely not be as close to {{{16&2/3}}}{{{"%"}}}, thus 60 rolls would stand a better chance than 600 rolls of giving more aces than 20%. Did your teacher expect you to calculate those probabilities? If so, repost asking how. Edwin</pre>

The probability of rolling an ace is 1%2F6 or 16%262%2F3%27%25%27. So the answer is 60 rolls. That's because with 600 rolls the number of aces will likely to be very close to 1/6 or 16%262%2F3%27%25%27 whereas 60 rolls would likely not be as close to 16%262%2F3%27%25%27, thus 60 rolls would stand a better chance than 600 rolls of giving more aces than 20%. 1. Roll the die 40 times and record the rolled values in the table below. These represent 40 observations of X. 2. Calculate the sample mean of your 40 rolls using Excel. This number represents a single observation of the random variable X (which, again, is a random variable representing the sample mean of 40 rolls of a die). Record the value for the sample mean in the space below: Sample Mean Observation (= first observation of X): 4. Do...
