There is positive and negative signaling in formation of hepatic endoderm.

1. Mesoderm induces liver bud formation

2. Dorsal endoderm: hepatogenesis is blocked

3. Hepatic region of gut endoderm epressing a-fetal protein and albumin

How does it happen?

a. The ectoderm and the notochord block the ability of the endoderm to express the liver-specific genes.

b. The cardiogenic mesoderm, through the FGFs promote liver specific gene transcription

They do this by blocking the inhibitory factors induced by surrounding tissues.
