Answer: (a) The alkene/ alkene product ratio is dependent variable for this study , this is because it depends on the strength of base used .

Independent variable is the base choosen , we can choose any base which can do elimination reaction and the production of base-H and Br​​​​​- is also independent.

The strength of base is the most important factor to determine mechanism of elimination reaction.

Weak base favours the E​​​​​​1 mechanism .
