Answer #1

The reaction between HCN and LiOH occurs as

LiOH (aq) + HCN (aq) ----> LiCN (aq)+ H2O (l)

This is an acid base reaction. HCN is a weak acid. The ionic equation is

HCN (aq) + Li+ (aq) + OH-(aq) ------> Li+ (aq) + CN-(aq) + H2O (l)

and net ionic equation is

HCN (aq) + OH-(aq) ------> H2O (l) + CN- (aq)

Thus the components that would be present in the solution after adding LiOH are Li+ , CN- and H2O.
