Explanation:

As the result of migration, now employees are available at 6.75 which is less than earlier equilibrium price of $8 and also the quantity of labor increase from 120 to 140.

So employers of North gain the area a + area b.

Area a = (8-6.75)*(90) + (1/2)*(8-6.75)*(120-90) = 131.25

Area b = (1/2)*(8-6.75)*(120-90) + (1/2)*(8-6.75)*(140-120) = 31.25

Total Gain = $162.5
