The mentioned activity helps in survival of endangered species as government alone can not do the same. By allowing the private cultivator to grow these species and then sale, government aims to prevent their extinction.
Disadvantages of this practice includes rather extinction of these species by allowing the private cultivators to collect the plants from wild population and then grow them for commercial purpose. Many species have undergone extinction due to over collection from wild population. Government should pose certain restrictions over the practice to prevent the over collection from wild population and to ensure no side effect of the same on the natural population of concerned species.
