Focusing on tailpipe emissions is the best way to combat GHG and toxic air contaminant (TAC) pollution. Focusing on cradle-to-grave emissions is the best way to combat GHG and TAC pollution. Retrofitting old buildings with individual pieces of newer technology (like LED's or smart windows) is more efficient than rebuilding from scratch with all newer technology. Demolishing and rebuilding an old building with all state of the art technology is better than retrofitting individual components.

1A. Tailpipe emission results from the combustion of gases in the engine of the vehicles.The foremost concern of these emissions include toxic and harmful contaminants like various oxides of nitrogen,carbon monoxide,hydrocarbons etc.

Supporting argument- E85 known as flex fuel which is a blended mixture of gasoline and ethanol can be used in order to control or inhibit the emission of carbon dioxide and other toxic substances. Using this ethanol mixture will also lead to reduction of GHG emissions.Thus this can be considered as an effective way to combat air contaminant pollution.

Refuting argument- This E85 increases the production of acetaldehyde emissions which is considered as the human carcinogen.

1B. Cradle-to-grave emissions is a assessment technique which will focus from the raw material extraction to material processing till the disposal or recycling of the product.

Supporting Argument- This has a better usage in Electric vehicles as EV (Electric vehicles) has no tailpipe emissions. It will help to analyze the benefits, cost-effectiveness and sustainability of the product. By controlling theses measures we can fight back with the TAC pollution. It is a tool that can prioritize our actions by providing the route to a renewing and sustainable future.

Refuting Argument- It will lead to immense usage of modern techniques which would lead to a bit difficulty. It might be considered as a time taking process.

2A. In support of the concept of the retrofitting old buildings with a newer and a smarter techniques like smart windows etc, one could possibly suggest that this theory is always widely proven to use contemporary techniques which will lead to a better establishment of the buildings.

But this theory is hiding its Con Fact as installment of smarter devices wont be able to make strong the foundation of the building. Thus to make a foundation strong, one should demolish the building and should start from beginning using smarter techniques.

Refuting Argument- Rebuilding is a time taking procedure and a loads of manpower will be used again. Thus it is better to install newer and smarter techniques and retrofitting the old building.
