Answer #1

50) For the process of fusion to occur, we must apply a very large amount of heat to ionize the Hydrogen atoms, in order to transform them into the plasma. The heating process ensures the ionized Hydrogen atoms acquire a large amount of energy, which is necessary to fuse and hold together the plasma for a long period of time. Hence, Fusion requires high temperature (of about 100 million °C) to occur.

51) The process by which one element is transformed into another element is known as Nuclear Transmutation. Nuclear Transmutation is also a nuclear reaction. In this process the particles having very high velocities collide with each other. The particles are accelerated by a particle accelerator to acquire very high velocities. The elements formed by this process, which possess atomic number larger than uranium are known as Transuranium elements.

52) The exposure to large quantities of radiation over a short period of time can result in Acute Radiation Syndrome. These radiations are able to enter inside the body tissues, due to their highly ionizing capabilities. The Acute Radiation Syndrome causes significant damage to the body and can sometimes cause Cancer by inducing harmful mutations in the genes.

53) The exposure to lower amounts of radiation over a long period of time can increase the risk of getting Leukemia, due to the mutations induced in the DNA. The damage of DNA of the reproductive organs will result in the formation of gametes with mutated DNA. This will lead to the birth of an offspring with physical deformations.
