Using the following network addresses, group them to make a larger network with ~240 hosts per network. The subnet cannot exceed 500 hosts:

Network address 1 – 9.57.33.0/26 00001001.00111001.00100001.00000000

Network address 1 – 9.57.33.192/27 00001001.00111001.00100001.11000000

Show your work by either typing the binary or writing it by hand. Include the network and broadcast addresses for the new network.

Answer #1

To make 240 host we need 8 bit in host id.

Now if we have 8bit in host id then network id is 32-8=24.

Now we have to and two network to check which part is fixed and which part is variable.

So fixed part is 9.57.33 and variable part is last 8 bit

Now we replace fixed part with 1 and variable part with 0 to get the subnet mask.

Subnet mask is 255.255.255.0

Now if we and with any of the ip address with the subnet mask we will get the address of group ip.which is 9.57.33.0

So new address is 9.57.33.0/24

Where network id is 9.57.33.0 and broadcast address is 9.57.33.255.
