Instructions: In this Final Project, you will test the skills and knowledge gained throughout this course. The steps listed below are loosely based on the Assignments you have completed thus far, so don’t hesitate to look back and use those resources. Follow the steps in each section, and paste screenshots when prompted.

This assignment is worth 10% of your final grade.

  1. Basic Network Troubleshooting
    1. Open Command Prompt type the command that prints the current username. Take a screenshot of the command results and place it below.

    2. Gather your IP address information. Take a screenshot of that information and place it below.

    3. Is your home/office making use of Classful IP Addressing or Classless?

    5. What is the Organization’s Unique Identifier (OUI) of your MAC address?

    7. Open the WireShark program and start a new Live Capture.
    8. Return to your Command Prompt and use an ICMP Echo Request to reach your Default Gateway. Take a screenshot of the command results and paste it below.

    9. Use the same ICMP Echo Request command to communicate with a website of your choosing. Take a screenshot of the command results and place it below.

    10. In the WireShark program, filter for ICMP. Locate the Request/Reply packets from the website you communicated with. Be sure the source and destination IP address are shown. Take a screenshot of the Request/Reply packets and paste it below.

  1. Packet Tracer
    1. Open the Packet Tracer program on your PC.
    2. Map a simple network. Include two PCs, a switch, a router and a server.
    3. Wire this network using Copper Straight-Through Cable. Take a screenshot of the cabled topology and place it below.

    4. Assign IP addresses to each PC, the server and the router interface connected to the switch.
      1. This can be any IP address, but I suggest a classful private IP address scheme.
    5. From PC0, ping the Default Gateway. Take a screenshot of the successful Replies and place it below.

    6. From PC1, ping the server. Take a screenshot of the successful Replies and place it below.

    7. On the FTP tab of the server, configure a user named “YourFirstName.” Assign them any password (make sure you remember it!) and give them all permissions.
    8. On either of the PCs, open a Command Prompt and use the ftp command to access the server.
    9. Login to the FTP server and type the dir command. Take a screenshot of the directory listing and place it below.

  2. Extra Credit: Windows Resource Monitor and Task Manager
    1. Open the Task Manager and take a screenshot of the Services tab. Paste the screenshot below.

    2. Within Task Manager, locate and open the Resource Monitor. Take a screenshot of the Network Resources Monitor and paste it below.

Each of the above tasks is worth +5 Extra Credit points for this project.
