Question

Periodic Table Puzzle

Each of the following letters represents an unknown main group element. Your task is to use the clues provided to place them in their correct order on the blank periodic below (only the white boxes will be filled in). The unknown elements are clustered by group, but they are not in order:

ZDU         TEV            IFCQ          GWR        OBY        HKX         ANLS         MPJ

Clues:

M has 6 electrons in the neutral atom

Y is a liquid at room temperature

W is an alkaline earth metal

N is a colorless gas

H has 5 valence electrons

R is the most abundant metal in the human body

The gaseous form of I is used in electric signs

L is in the same period as Y

The atomic number of G is 12

V has the least number of protons in its group

B is the most electronegative element on the periodic table

D is the only metalloid in its group

The atomic number of Q is six times that of M

S is a highly reactive metal that burns yellow in a flame (it used to be used in street lamps)

K has the largest radius of its group

X exists in 2 major forms – red and white – the white form is used for explosives

E is the element commonly associated with a rotten egg smell

The atomic number of F is twice that of B

J is a metalloid used in electronics, like computers (a region in California is named after it)

U is a lightweight, low density, silvery metal that is used in many applications, including cars, buildings, kitchenware, and cansModule 3 Lab 18 2 13 14 15 617 2 3 3 4 5 6 7 89 10 11 12 4 5 6 7
