The building blocks of DNA are nucleotides, which are made up of three parts: a deoxyribose (5-carbon sugar), a phosphate group, and a nitrogenous base. There are four types of nitrogenous bases in DNA. Adenine (A) and guanine (G) are double-ringed purines, and cytosine (C) and thymine (T) are smaller, single-ringed pyrimidines. The nucleotide is named according to the nitrogenous base it contains.
Figure 1: Each DNA nucleotide is made up of a deoxyribose sugar, a phosphate group, and a nitogenous base.
Figure 2: Structures of nitogenous base.
The basic properties of DNA bases is observed due to the presence of amine group(-NH2) of the following nitrogenous bases.

In glycoproteins, to what three amino acids are carbohydrate groups most frequently linked? To what functional group is the glycan linked in each case?
The functional group that consists of hydroxyl groups bonded to carbonyl groups is called a.)esters. b.)ethers. c.)carboxylic acids. d.)amides.
Label the hybridization (e.g. sp3, sp2, sp, etc.) for the central atom within each functional group in the DNA molecule? Label the bond angle around the central atom in each major functional group within the DNA molecule? Label the geometry of each central atom for each central atom in each functional group in the DNA molecule. Label the major sites in the functional groups in the DNA molecule as acidic, basic or neutral and then label them as nucleophilic, electrophilic...

1) List the most common organic functional groups that function as acids or bases. Write an equation of each with Hal or NaOH to show their behavior as acids or bases. (You will also enter these functional groups in the table in Question 2.) 2) Fill in the following table showing the general solubility behavior of the organic acids and bases you listed above. Assume that they are not small enough to have significant water solubility. Type of Organic Compound...
