Three types of adsorbents to be used are:

Carbon based compounds : active carbon

Oxygen based compounds : silica

Polymer based compounds : porous polymer matrix

The floating adsorbent are used for removal of phosphates, heavy metals, nitrogen containing compounds, dyes etc from water.

They can be fabricated again and adsorbent so obtained on the top is collected.

Filtration, evaporation are the techniques used for this purpose.
