Question
  1. Assume that the Web Server transmits a packet to Client #2. What are the specific numeric address values (from the diagram above) that will be in each of the following header fields of this packet sent by Web Server?

    1. a) (3 points) Source Address in Ethernet header

    2. b) (3 points) Destination Address in Ethernet header (assume that Web Server ARP Table already contains any MAC address needed for this packet)

    3. c) (3 points) Source Address in IP header

    4. d) (3 points) Destination Address in IP header

    5. Please show work.

Client #2 IP 160.16.0.11 MAC 00:01:02:03:04:06 Client #1 IP 160.16.0.3 MAC 00:01:02:03:04:22 Web Server IP 160.16.0.105 MAC 0

Answer #1

Source address in the Ethernet Header: 00:01:02:03:04:33 (MAC address of the Web Server)

Destination Address in Ethernet Header: 00:01:02:03:04:11 (MAC address of the Router)

The MAC address of the router is given because the packet will first route to the router and from the ARP table it is easy to reach to the router as in the ARP table the MAC and IP address of the router is stored.

Source Address in IP header: 160.16.0.105/26 (IP address of the Web Server)

Destination Address in IP header: 160.16.0.11/26 (IP Address of the Client 2)
