A. As the velocity is constant we can find velocity for any section of the carousel

From 3 to 4 the bag goes 25 ft in 20 s, therefore the speed is

25/20 = 1.25 ft/s

Option e)

B. Total distance to travel in the semicircular position = \pi R_2 = 6\pi ft

Speed = 1.25 ft/s. Therefore time taken

= \frac{6\pi}{1.25} = 15.08 sec \approx 15.1 sec

Option d)

C. If we draw a line from point 1 to 3 It will make a diameter of the semi circle in the negative y direction. Diameter of the semi circle = 2*R1 = 10 ft

Therefore displacement in negative y direction

= (10ft)j

Option b)

D. The x component of the velocity will be zero when the velocity is pointing in parallel to y direction. This happens at position 2 and 5

Option c)

E. At pt 5 the velocity is pointing to the +ve y direction, whereas at pt 2 the velocity is pointing to the -ve y direction.

Therefore change is happening in the negative y direction.
