I reflect on my Six Sigma process improvement in my client organization. The first challenge I faced is the resistance to change from the employees of the client organization from the older practices. It was very hard to convince them to new techniques and practices. I sought the help of the management in the client organization to organize a training program to create awareness about the quality improvement program and train the employees to adapt to the new processes and techniques. I got the support from the client side management and daily training sessions were arranged after the work hours to train the employees on the Six Sigma quality process improvement. These training sessions helped me overcome the resistance to change from the employees and build rapport with them to make the Six Sigma implementation success in the organization.
Six Sigma requires integration of all department information into a single source to automate the entire information system. The next major challenge that I faced was to obtain information from the respective departments of the client organizations. Most of the department heads would not reveal their department information. Most of the department staffs were reluctant to share the information. They had all manual information and were resisting digitizing the content or changing from manual to digital content. This required a lot of meetings with the various department heads and the director of the organization has to convince them to provide the necessary information to me to complete the Six Sigma quality process improvement program in their organization. Collecting information was a major challenge and finally, after a lot of meetings, I got the help of the various departments with the respective department heads appointing a particular staff to help me provide all the information needed.
Six Sigma quality process improvement required automation of the organization activities. This required the use of information software to process data, perform analysis and obtain vital information for decision making. The staff had to be trained in using the new Six Sigma quality process improvement information system software. I had to train the selected employees of the client organization after their work hours resulting in prolonging of my work schedule. The project did not go according to the time schedule that I framed in the beginning as I faced hindrances through these challenges. Most of the times, meetings and training programs were used by me to solve the major challenges that I faced in my Six Sigma quality process improvement program.
