Usually for transition elements filling takes place in the inner d orbitals
In 5th period Ag supposed to have [Kr] 5s2 4d9 configuration .But
it is not so.This is is due to extra stability which Ag will
get when it has a completely filled d orbital configuration.4d10
configuration lowers its energy and become more stable.Where as Yttrium
doesnt have that kind of stability .Hence it follow usual trend[ 5s orbitals
filled first ,then 4d filling takes place]
