Answer #1

We can calculate the enthalpy change of the neutralisation process from the standard enthalpy of formation values. In this case we shall calculate the enthalpy change using the standard enthalpies of formation of water molecule from a proton and hydroxide ion. From the calculated value we can then calculate the percent discrepancy.

F11 FiB FIO R F9 FO FE FY F4 Name N E The Enthalpy of Neutralization of Phosphoric Acid As you have seen in previous experiments, a great deal can be learned by conducting an acid- base reaction as a titration. In addition, acid-base reactions can be observed and measured thermodynamically. In this case, the reaction is carried out in a calorimeter. If the temperature of...

I need help with these two 1 The table below shows time, temperature, and temperature change data collected using Pivot Lab#8 (Specific Heat of Water Experiments). The heat supplied, Q, is to be calculated from Q = Pt (where P is the power of the light bulb which is 25 watts and t is the time). For example, when t = 200 s, Q = 25 watts x 200 s = 5000 Joules. Plot Temp. Change (vertical axis) versus Heat...
