Strategic evaluation refers to the act of evaluating and access the performance of the organization in terms of the projects undertaken, activities done and actions taken. It helps in evaluating the overall strategies of the organization. It also helps in exploring the medium as well as long term opportunities, threats in the external environment. There are number of ways by which the strategy can be evaluated, and one such way is SWOT analysis, highlighted as under:

Strengths:

• The industry keeps and accurate and successful track of all the new product developments made.
• The industry has build up the strong distribution network where the products can be made available to customers in short time.
• The industry has high amount of cash flow which provides ample amount of resources to the company.
• The relation of the industry with its distributers and suppliers is very strong, hence ease in conducting the business.

Weaknesses:

• The industry lacks in performing any kind of financial planning effectively, specially for long run.
• Less amount of investment is done in buying new advanced technology, hence not able to gain competitive edge.
• Less amount of money is invested in the research and development department, which makes it difficult to take tough decisions.

Opportunities:

• The new environmental policies taken up by the government opens path for the industry to prosper and develop more.
• The opening up of new markets due to the different government policies can benefit the organization and widen the market for them.
• The ever changing taxation policy can change the way the business is done and hence benefit the organization.

Threats:

• The ever changing buyers behavior due to the presence of online channels can pose threats to the business.
• The company is exposed to number of currency fluctuation since the company operates in different countries.
• The local distributers are becoming more strong in influencing the business, hence causing threat to their working.
