  • The strengths of behaviourism includes that it is based observable behaviours,so it becomes easier for the researchers to quantify and collect data.It can be scientifically tested and provide support with evidence.
  • Many effective therapeutic techniques are based on behaviourism,like,behavioral intervention, behavior analysis, token economies.These techniques are used to modify the negative or maladaptive behaviours and replace with positive ones.
  • Criticisms include:-Behaviorism has been criticized to be a one-dimensional approach which only understands human behaviour but doesnt really focuses on free will and any internal influences like moods,thoughts and feelings.
  • It only tends to consider the behaviour which is observable and measurable,while the unseen aspects which are also important to one'e learning is not considered.
  • Also,this school of psychology doesnt account for other types of learning,which is not based on reinforcement and punishment.
