Functions of RNA polymerase

RNA polymerase play crucial role in the synthesis RNA by following a strand of DNA.

Basically RNA polymerase facilitates copying a DNA sequence into an RNA sequence during transcription.

As it facilitates transcription, affects patterns of gene expression and, thereby, allows a cell to adapt to a changing environment.

RNA polymerase binds and initiate transcription at specific DNA sequences called promoters. It then produces an RNA chain, which is complementary to the template DNA strand.
