Describe what Benefit-Cost Analysis is (a) and list two characteristics of the service sector that differentiates it from the manufacturing sector (b).
a.Benefit-Cost Analysis
b.Service sector projects characteristics
a) Benefit cost analysis : It is a process businesses use to analyse the decisions. The business or analysts sums the benefits of situation or action & then subtracts the costs associated with taking that action. It takes into account both quantitative & qualitative factors for analysis of the value for money for a particular project or investment opportunity. Benefits to cost ratio and other indicators are used to conduct such analysis.
b) Characteristics of service sector :
i) Intangibility : Service sector generally cannot be seen, felt, tested or heard or smelt before being bought. The potential customer is unable to perceive the service before the service delivery. Example, car repairing services.
ii) Variability : The quality of service may vary depend upon who provides it as well as when & how it is provided.
iii) Lack of ownership : It is basic difference between service industry & product industry because customer may only have access to or use of a facility.

List and describe the cost-benefit analysis that management should weigh before buying and installing a new interface to its Property Management System.
What differentiates a list of project requirements from a work breakdown structure (WBS)? What is the importance of developing a WBS to manage a project? How does the WBS contribute to the success of a project? Once the project schedule is finalized, what are the tools you can use to monitor the schedule? How do you handle resource over allocation? What are the advantages and disadvantages of fast-tracking a project?
Your reader article (#6.1) describes several problematic aspects of cost-benefit analysis. Explain what this analysis is and describe two of the problems with the approach.
What is the purpose of a cost-benefit analysis of a public good? Choose 1: A. to determine how much consumers should pay for the good B. to decide how much of the good the government should supply C. to lay down rules about who will be allowed to consume the good D. to document why the private sector is not supplying the good E. to establish whether the good is excludable
What products do you feel offer a huge benefit to you compared to the cost of the product. (b-c) List two or three products and describe/explain the benefits, try to quantify in dollar terms if you can. Example: I find the TIVO’s benefit of recording shows, saves me about 4 hours of time each week. The time saved is from not watching commercials, and from not (clicking around) looking for something to watch when I turn the TV on. That’s...

2. Preform a benefit/cost analysis on the following project: Expected costs: $5,000 today, $6,000 a year from today, and $5,000 two years from today Expected revenue: $7,000 five years from today, $6,000 seven years from today, and $8,000 ten years from today. Assume a 5% discount rate Find: a. The Net Present Value (NPV) of the project b. The benefit/cost ratio c. Is the project worth undertaking?
Problem 2: Cost-benefit Analysis. A project costs 10 this ycar, has a benefit of 5 this ycar, and has a bencfit of 6 next ycar. (a) Assuming that the interest rate is r , what is the present value (sum of the dis- counted benefits minus costs) of the project? (b) For what value of interest rate r, the present value of the project will be exactly equal to zero?
What are the two characteristics that differentiate private goods from public goods? A. Rivalry and excludability B. Negative externality and positive externality C. Marginal cost and marginal benefit D. Ownership and usage
Describe the five characteristics of life, and list several nonliving things that possess at least two of these characteristics. Explain how an atom relates to the biosphere by describing the levels of organization. Why is a cell, and not an atom or a molecule, considered the basic unit of life? Draw and explain the relationship between producers and consumers (including decomposers). How does a homes’ air conditioning system illustrate homeostasis? Describe the main differences between asexual and sexual reproduction. Why...
