• 2.The types of encoding:-
• Encoding is a biological event beginning with perception through the senses.When information comes into our memory system (from sensory input), it needs to be changed into a form that the system can cope with, so that it can be stored.
• There are three main ways in which information can be encoded (changed):
• Visual (picture)-For example,when I remember a phone number, if I can see it in the phone directory and create a mental imagery then I'm using visual coding, but if I am repeating it to myself over and over again  I'm using acoustic coding (by sound)
• Acoustic encoding is the use of auditory stimuli or hearing to implant memories. This is aided by what is known as the phonological loop. The phonological loop is a process by which sounds are sub-vocally rehearsed (or “said in your mind over and over”) in order to be remembered.
• Semantic (meaning)-Semantic encoding is a specific type of encoding in which the meaning of something is encoded.For example,if I want to remember a name of a food item,I might use the colour to encode it to recall it for later use.Also I might remember a specific phone number by using a person's name.
