1.what’s dark matter? Why do astronomers believe it exists?

2. what’s dark matter? Why do astronomers believe it exists?

3. What’s a black hole? What’s the difference between stellar balck hoiles and galaxy black holes? Why is it black?

4. People ask “who” made the original mass that expanded in the Big Bang. What is one natural, as contrasted with supernatural, explanation for how the world began?

Answer #1

1) Dark matter is a matter which does not interact with light. It does not interact with the electromagnetic force. This means it does not absorb, reflect or emit light.

astronomers believe it exists because the galaxies would have been ripped apart by the gravity of observable matter but there is something working behind the curtains to hold all of it together. We cannot see this but we know for sure that this dark matter gives extra mass to the galaxies and supply gravity needed to hold them together.

Interesting fact is that even if we can't see it, dark matter makes around 28% of the universe

3) The standard definition of a black hole is that a black hole is a region in space where the pulling force of gravity is so strong that light is not able to escape. The strong gravity occurs because matter has been pressed into a tiny space.

Stellar black holes are around 3-9 times more heavier than sun but galaxy black holes are like 1012 times more heavier. Stellar mass black holes form from the collapse of massive stars at the end of their lives. Galaxy black holes sit at the center of galaxy. Even our own milky way has a super massive black hole sitting at the center.

4) That's a debatable topic.....if you believe in god or not will make a difference in answer.

5) As the universe cooled after big bang, quarks formed at first which then grouped to from protons and neutrons
