Quality of life of gayand bisexual men during emerging adulthood in Taiwan: Roles of traditional and cyber harassment victimization

1. The results from the above article indicated that low quality of life was significantly associated with both traditional harassment and cyber harassment.  

2. According to Erik Erikson's Psycho social stages development, Adulthood is a phase that exists between the age of 18 to 40 years. In this sixth stage, the psycho social crisis occurs between 'Intimacy vs Isolation', where individuals are mainly concerned with developing intimate relationships with people. This includes romantic relationships such as love, marriage and other long term commitments that gives the individuals a sense of belongingness, care and comfort. When individuals are successful in this stage, they get virtue of love. On the other hand, when the individuals are not successful in attaining such relationships, it would makes them feel lonely, sad or depressed.  

Sexual orientation of individuals are not exactly determined to a particular factor. In fact it could be a result of various factors including the genetics, environmental factors, or hormonal activities within the individuals.

From the perspective of the Conflict theory, the conflicts within the social levels is the cause of cyber bullying. The traditional or cyber harassment in the victims includes bullying, that might makes these people psychologically disturbed because they are conflicting to the actual social expectation of sexual orientation.

3. From the above theories and phenomenon it is evident that these people have low self esteem because of the fact that these men may not have been successful in making intimate relationship with women, that had made them to have sexual orientation towards the same gender or as bisexuals. It could also be due to the reason that they have been harassed as they are unlike other people who have sexual orientation towards the member of the opposite sex.
