Applied load = 1000 lb

length of joint = 1 in, width of joint = 0.5 in

Area of the bond = length*width = 1*0.5 = 0.5 in2

we have ,

σ yield permissible

\sigmayield = 6675 Psi,

\sigmapermisible = applied load/area = 1000/0.5 = 2000 lb/in2 = 2000 Psi

therefore FOS = 6675/2000 = 3.3375
