Recently scientists in India has developed a technology of solar powered ATM which can run without PIN. The user who are often not very confident about remembering  PIN no ( especially the illiterate people living in villages) can operate this without taking help from third party.

There are many villages which have electricity facility but have a problem of loadshedding or power cut. In this scenario these ATM which are powered by solar power will be a big boost to spread the banking sector to the nooks and corners of the country.

The scientist GON Choudhuri who works in NBIRT said that he developed this technology keeping in mind specially keeping in mind the rural and semi rural population, many of them who are unlettered and not accustomed to swiping ATM cards and putting in PIN numbers to withdraw cash. This ATM prototype is named JANATA solar ATM or people's ATM.

The procedure to withdraw cash is very simple.

(a) The user  would just have to press his or her biometric registered finger on the scanner

(b) Once the finger print is scanned the user's bank account will come up on screen where denominations of the notes will also come up.

(c) After selecting the denomination the user has to select the denomination multiple times to get the required amount.
