GROUP ASSIGNMENT QUESTION- DUEDATE IS ON 29 MAY 2019 (5 P.M.) A research group from FKM, UTeM developed a Rain Harvesting System as shown in Figure 1 to minimize the flood in Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Iskandar Syah (SMKIS) with the help from teachers and students from the school. The heavy rain especially during the Northeast and Southeast Monsoon resulted in overflow of the existing drainage system in the school and causes soil erosion as shown in Figure 2. Instead of utilizing the excess water for other purpose such as fertigation pond, this group applied the extraction of water energy concept from high-level dam to turn the turbine blade. The kinetic energy gained to turn the blade is then used to generate an electrical power to run a scrolling message board. Table 1 shows the detail of each components used Since the flowrate of water is uneven, the researcher needs to determine the range of power that might be generated from the turbine.
