Answer #1

Given,

Abortions decreased from 46 million in 1996 to 42 million in 2003

a.)

From 1996 to 2003 abortion is decreased by 4 miliions

b.)

   Number of abortions decreased at the rate of

= \frac{abortion decreased}{years}

= \frac{4}{7}=0.57

c.)

   Percentage decreased

   = \frac{4}{46}*100=8.69

d.)

  Percentage decreased per year

= \frac{0.57}{4}*100=14.25

e.)

Generalised linear model is

   Abortions in 1996 = 46 millions

   Abortions in 2003 = 42 millions

Linear model is given as,

   Y=mX+C

   'Y' axis is number of abortions in a particular year in millions

   'X' is the year

   Y= 46 million , X= 1996

   Y= 42 million , X = 2003

Therefore, linearlised model that fit above data is

Y=\frac{-X}{4}+1186.57......................................................(1)

f.)

Now exponential model is given by,

   Y=Ce^{-mX}

X' axis is number of abortions in a particular year in millions

'Y' is the year

X= 46 million , Y= 1996

X= 42 million , Y = 2003

Therefore, exponential model that fit above data is

Y=2077.9987*e^{-8.7522*10^{-4}X}.....................................................................(2)

g.)

  Just put 'X' = 2014 in equation 1,you will number of abortions in 2014 in millions

h.)

Just put 'Y' = 2014 in equation 2,you will get number of abortions in 2014 as per exponential model
