1. Stomatitis: Inflammation of mucous membrane.

• Give frequent mouth care.
• Use hexidine mouth wash to reduce inflammation.

2. Rash/Hives:

• Discontinue the medication.
• administer anti-allergens.

3. Superinfection: Drugs that kill normal flora

• Stop the medication and administer antifungal.
• Provide supportive care like skincare, mouth care.

4. Kidney damage:

• Stop the medication immediately.
• Report to the physician.

5. Blood dyscrasia: Bone marrow suppression

• Check the blood counts.
• Follow the protective isolation technique.

2. Allergic responses of Drug therapy:

Cytotoxic reaction:

The circulating drug antigen are attacked by the antibodies causing the death of the cell. This reaction may happen after a few days of intake of medicine.

Nursing Assessment:

• Assess the signs and symptoms of the patient.
• Monitor vital signs.
• Complete blood count to know the cell damage.
• Liver function test to know the enzyme level.
• Assess the renal function.

Nursing Intervention:

• Discontinue the drug.
• Notify the physician regarding allergic reactions.
• Support the person to overcome the allergic response.
• Care to be taken to prevent infection.
