independent variable - the variable which we change by ourselves in an experiment is known as an independent variable.

dependent variable - the variable which changes in response to the independent variable directly, is known as the dependent variable.

intervening variable - they are not directly observable in an experiment but links independent variables with the dependent variable.

moderator variables - they influence the relationship between independent and dependent variables by modifying the intervening variable.

controlled variable - some of the characteristics of the experiment are remained unchanged and are known as controlled variables or constant variables.
