In my opinion the Electronic health records (EHRs) system as the significant technological healthcare change might have the most impact on our healthcare system in the future. It allows the effective handling, storage and retrieval of the patient data in the health care system.

As it allows health care professionals and patients to appropriately access and securely share a patient’s medical information electronically. There are many health care delivery scenarios driving the technology behind the different forms of health information exchange available today.

Then it can be used to coordinate and share the overall information of the patient during the therapy including the patient history also.

Eg: In certain cases there is the allergic history of the patient to certain medication then this information can be shared in the group during the treatment of the patient with minimal errors and the high patient safety to assure the better quality flow of the healthcare services to the patient.

Thus the health information exchange can enhance patient safety and quality of care in an integrated health care delivery system.

Electronic health records (EHRs) can improve the ability to diagnose diseases and reduce—even prevent—medical errors, improving patient outcomes.

EHRs can reduce errors, improve patient safety, and support better patient outcomes

Clinicians may use information systems of this electronic medical record to coordinate care and share information with other clinicians. Patients and clinicians may use communication tools and information resources to interact with one another in new ways. As patient-centered care is an important aspect of high-quality care.

Thus this technological healthcare change can be proved to make the potential impact on our healthcare system in the future.
