A large number of population in United States remains uninsured. This due to two reasons:
- financial crisis
- lack of awareness
Due to high premium costs of medical insurance and various formalities involved in reimbursement huge population remained uninsured. This affected the uninsured population greatly. Survey showed that the uninsured population paid lesser visit to the healthcare compared to the insured ones. This led to poor quality of health in uninsured population.
Also whenever the uninsured people had to use medical services, it costs them disproportionately high amount of money.
Medical services used by uninsured people are often uncompensated which results in costs to providers, communities, and society. It also leads to financial stress and anxiety
