In current situation, data can be considered to be the blood on which the business is running. Various strategic decisions of the company are based on business data. Data comprises the business past performance data as well as customer data. Hence data is quite critical for business.

Some of the fundamental reasons why companies emphasize on gathering, storing, processing and interpreting data are:

• Data helps the business in making comprehensive, strategic decisions
• Problem solving gets facilitated when the company has data on which the solution can be backed
• The overall performance of an employee, a unit, a department or overall company can be analyzed with the help of performance data
• Data helps the company in analyzing as well as attracting and retaining customers
