Answer #1

The answer is option A) ,B)

Intravenous pyelogram is a radiological investigation done to rule out any anatomical changes or disease related to urinary system .It takes a x- ray image of the urinary system .

The actions to be taken by nurse are the following :-

Assist the client with a bowel cleaning - bowel preparation has to be done by giving mild laxative or dulcolux tablets to keep the colon empty to get a proper image of the urinary system .

Ensure the client is free of metal objects like jewellery and other equipment like dentures ,lens ,implants - because the procedure is a radiological procedure ,metal objects has to removed to avoid any magnetic attraction of the scanning machine with the metal objects , it will be injurious for the patient and might lead to severe complications.

- Check whether the patient has any allergic reaction to iodine because in this study iodine contrast agents will be given through IV to get the image of the urinary system . In adults it is given 40 to 80 ml .
