A recent article was published in Newyork times regarding an unconscious patient 70 years old was brought to an emergency room of the hospital of Miami who was tattoed as "Do not resuscitate" in his chest. this makes a bigger confusion for doctors in that situation. Patient wishes in the form of a tattoo are to be acceptable or not. The doctor was in a dilemma whether to treat the patient or to fulfill the patient's wish. He had a history of lung disease, heart disease, and diabetes. While reaching the hospital, the patient blood alcohol level was too high. The doctor decided to get an opinion from the bioethical expert and expert advice to follow the patient's wishes so that the doctors have stopped the life-saving treatment but cared him till his death. It is a very critical situation to take a decision. The doctor and the patient have to communicate in detail at the end of life treatment. The patient has the right to take decision on his own treatment. But the advance directive differs from one state to other state and also even from one hospital to another hospital. It is necessary to make public awareness on the advance directives as everyone has their own wish for their future.
