Robbie's mother calls a new pediatrician in a panic to report that her 5-year-old son has started a high-pitched, wheezing cough and cannot breathe. In the past, Robbie occasionally had slight coughs and tired easily, his mother says, but this episode is more alarming. 1. High pitched wheezing cough and breathing difficulty is due to

    inflammation or narrowing of airway it can occur due to asthma.

         It is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways characterized

         by hyperresponsiveness,mucosal edema and mucosal production.

2. Triggers of asthma.

       * Airway irritants (Dust,cold,heat,smoke,perfumes etc.)

       * Vigorous exercises.

       * Emotional stress.

       * Viral and respiratory infections.

       * Gastroesophagal reflux.

       * Allergens.( Pollens,mold,animals hair,grass etc.)
