The characteristics of certain U.S. population groups that face challenges and barriers in accessing health care services i.e. the underserved people include; people facing the social, economic, and cultural barriers to accessing health care and social services. According to the Health Resource and Services Administration (HRSA) these special populations as generally the migrant and seasonal farm workers, people who are experiencing homelessness, residents of the public housing, and Native Hawaiians. According to the Uniform Data Systems (UDS), CHCs served In 2012,

909,089 migrant and seasonal farm workers,

1,121,037 individuals experiencing homelessness,

219,220 public housing residents,

And more than 6,600 Native Hawaiians
