3 - Arterial gas levels would be low in a child with gastroenteritis because of lack of nutrition and low electrolyte counts. Low electrolyte count and lack of nutrition will lead no anaerobic respiration in the child's body and it indicates an imbalance between oxygen and carbon dioxide.
