Solution :-

i)

Horizontal Scaling :-

In many IT setups,we do have a concept of horizontal scaling. It means the "bulding up" of systems by making use of extra or additional components.

Let us consider an example of a hardware server that needs to handle a lot of data transfers than usual, the processing power or even memory will be added by the IT managers so that the capability will be increased. It is considered as an appealing principle in Information technologies like cloud computing etc.

Differences between replication and partitioning :-

Replication is a process of creating an extra copy of same data that could be useful in case of data corruption and data loss.Simply we can say duplicating the data.We have many varieties for replication. Some of them are Master slave, leader follower,Array based synchronous and asynchronous replication,host-based replication etc

whereas partitioning is a process of dividing or splitting the data for easy manipulation and retrieval. The different types of this process are Fragmenting or splitting the databases into smaller sub sets.

ii)

Data replication and partitioning can be done in databases by using select and join commands
