Metal usually show metallic bonding in their elemental form which is a strong bonding based on electrostatic force of attraction. Iron metal is categorized as the transition metal which shows coordinate bonding with liquid (water). In this case, water molecules act as ligands and surround the iron metal ion to form a complex sphere. This complex is called hexa aqua complex.

Therefore, the chemical bonding that exists between iron and liquid (water) is coordinate bonding.
