# Medicare is a federal program that provides health coverage if the patient is 65 yrs or older ,no matter how much your income is.

# Medicaid is a state and federal program that provides health coverage to only low income people's.

Both are separate programs run by government ,established in 1954 in order to provide healthcare services to older and low income populations who cannot afford the health care services.

Every initiative ,every thing ,every individual etc in this world have some pros and cons or we can say advantages and disadvantages .

# The pros of Medicare are:-

- Older population who cannot afford or for those who thought getting health care service impossible ,Medicare made it possible irrespective of income .

- Not only older population but many young population with disabilities who does.not have any health insurance got the chance to get the health care services by the help of Medicare.

- It covers all group of people

- Medicare costs less every month

- Medicare provides additional coverage like special consultation for dental ,vision etc.

- Medicare has led to prescription innovation

- Medicare has resulted in increased medical standard

# Cons of Medicare are:-

- It costs huge for the administration

- Costs huge for taxpayers

- Costs too much in condition when the patient is too sick .

- Attracts fraudulent doctors

# The pros of Medicaid are :-

- It enables the people belonging to low income to have access to health care services which they cannot afford .

- Physicians who accept Medicaid has a garunteed continuous flow of patients and in some states practitioners are given rewards for treating Medicaid patients.

- Risk of Non payment of bills is less in Medicaid .

# The cons of Medicaid are :-

- Limitation to type of treatment

- Medicaid reimbursement are lower than what the doctors charge rests in discouraging doctors to treat Medicaid patients.

- Medicaid reimbursement takes long time between 35 to 155 days which will be useless in cases where urgent operation and medical procedure is required.

- Medicaid patients face discrimination.
